«Bloom»,
poem 1058
by Emily Dickinson
[Amherst, Massachusetts, EE. UU., 1830-
1886, ibidem]
Bloom — is Result —to meet a Flower
And casually glance
Would cause one scarcely to suspect
The minor Circumstance
Assisting in the Bright Affair
So intricately done
Then offered as a Butterfly
To the Meridian —
To pack the Bud — oppose the Worm —
Escape the prowling Bee
Great Nature not to disappoint
Awaiting Her that Day —
To be a Flower, is profound
Responsibility —
*
What a beautiful poem!
How does the flower appear?, did you realize?
Suddenly, the flower emerges not as this pretty object to be admired, but as this ravishing system of aliveness — a kind of silent symphony of interconnected resilience.
This poem 1058, «Bloom», was not published during Emily Dickinson´s lifetime. It was first published posthumously in 1890, in the first collection of her poetry, Poems of Emily Dickinson, edited by Thomas Wentworth Higginson and Mabel Loomis Todd. This initial collection, released four years after her death in 1886.
I hope you enjoy this poem.
Until next time, with good readings,
Cecilia Olguin Gianelli

Conversar de libros, y de los caminos a donde ellos nos llevan, dar una opinión, contar impresiones, describir una escena, personaje favorito, nunca contarlo todo, aunque a veces, elijamos ir un poco más allá, y no está mal, no a todos les molesta.
